Business Development Manager (UK)
Location: United Kingdom (hybrid)
Reporting to: VP Sales / Chief Business Officer
Role Overview
The Business Development Manager (UK) will drive Agora Labs’ commercial expansion across the United Kingdom, with a strong focus on the NHS and affiliated research ecosystems.
This role requires deep understanding of NHS structures, procurement pathways, and research collaboration frameworks, as well as the ability to build trusted relationships with hospitals, universities, and national health bodies.
The position combines enterprise sales, strategic partnerships, and ecosystem development in a highly regulated and relationship-driven environment.
Key Responsibilities
Business Development & Sales
Identify, develop, and close new business opportunities across the UK healthcare and life sciences ecosystem
Manage the full sales cycle: prospecting, discovery, solution positioning, proposal, negotiation, and closing
Build and maintain a structured pipeline of qualified opportunities
Market Expansion (UK Focus)
Develop Agora Labs’ presence within:
NHS Trusts and Integrated Care Systems (ICSs)
Academic Health Science Networks (AHSNs)
University hospitals and research institutions
National research infrastructures (e.g. NIHR networks, registries, data hubs)
Navigate complex NHS procurement and decision-making processes involving clinical, digital, research, governance, and procurement stakeholders
Understand and leverage UK-specific funding and innovation pathways (e.g. NIHR, Innovate UK, NHS innovation programmes)
NHS & Academic Ecosystem Engagement
Build strong, trust-based relationships with key NHS stakeholders (clinical leaders, CIOs/CDOs, research directors, innovation leads)
Engage with universities and translational research centres to support collaborative RWE and AI projects
Position Agora Labs within national and regional NHS innovation and research initiatives
Understand NHS data governance frameworks (e.g. IG, DSPT, data access committees) and align solutions accordingly
Value Proposition & Solution Selling
Position Agora Labs’ solutions around:
Real-World Evidence generation
Federated learning and privacy-preserving AI
On-premises data activation and secure data collaboration
Translate complex technical, regulatory, and data governance concepts into clear clinical, operational, and economic value for NHS stakeholders
Align solutions with NHS priorities such as patient outcomes, efficiency, and research impact
Partnerships & Ecosystem Development
Build long-term partnerships with:
NHS Trusts and healthcare networks
Universities and academic research centres
Pharma, biotech, and CRO organisations
National and regional innovation bodies
Collaborate with strategic partners and public institutions to strengthen market credibility and accelerate adoption
Internal Collaboration
Work closely with product, tech, legal, and compliance teams to co-design proposals tailored to UK requirements
Contribute to go-to-market strategy, pricing models, and commercial positioning for the UK market
Provide feedback on NHS-specific needs to inform product development and roadmap
Required Experience & Skills
Professional Experience
5+ years of experience in Business Development / Enterprise Sales in:
Digital Health, HealthTech, Life Sciences, Pharma, CRO, MedTech, or AI
Proven experience selling complex B2B solutions with long sales cycles
Strong track record of managing multi-stakeholder deals and strategic partnerships
Domain Knowledge
Strong understanding of the UK healthcare ecosystem, including:
NHS structure (Trusts, ICSs, national bodies)
NHS procurement and commissioning processes
Clinical research infrastructure (e.g. NIHR, academic collaborations)
Knowledge of at least some of the following
Real-World Data / Real-World Evidence
Healthcare data governance and compliance (UK GDPR, NHS IG frameworks)
AI applications in healthcare (business-level understanding)
Soft Skills
Strong consultative and value-based selling approach
Ability to build trust within complex, relationship-driven environments
Excellent communication and negotiation skills
Ability to operate autonomously in a scale-up environment
Comfortable working across cultures and in international contexts
Languages
Fluent English (mandatory)
Additional European languages are a plus
